Fox Fire Farms is a high-elevation vineyard and tasting stop on a 910-acre livestock farm near Ignacio. Its cold-climate grapes, rural setting and summer Friday events distinguish it from Southwest Colorado's urban tasting rooms, but the tasting season is limited and the farm closes for winter.
What to expect
The farm is about 30 miles southeast of Durango according to its current website. The vineyard focuses on grapes suited to high elevation and cold temperatures, including Aromella, Traminette, Corot Noir and Petite Pearl.
Fox Fire's 2024 Aromella was named Best White Wine in the 2025 Colorado Governor's Cup collection. From June through September, the farm also schedules Friday evenings with music, food and wine, subject to weather.
Before you go
- Regular tasting hours run only from May 15 through October 31, Thursday through Sunday.
- The official site says the winery is closed for winter from November 1 through May 14.
